Hi, I had my Gall Bladder Removed about 4 months ago and since then I nearly always have an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach and after I eat, especially in the morning I can have really bad stomach pains. I was not told of any specific foods to stick to so I have been eating what I did before I had gallstones. Is there a certain diet that I should be following or any foods that I should avoid. Any info on what can help or anything that I should or should not do would be very much appreciated, or any of your personal stories about after gall bladder removal would be helpful. Thanks in advance :D

Please contact a doctor immediately. This could be serious and nobody over yahoo will be able to successfully diagnose your illness.

I had my gall bladder removed in July after the first attack of biliary colic I'd had in 20 years. I'm out of pain now, but had a couple of really painful episodes after eating citrus fruit or chocolate. Also, the pain I experienced came about 20 mins after eating. I was always pain free by morning. After gall bladder removal, 20% of people experience discomfort or pain, called post cholecystectomy syndrome, the causes of which are not clear.

You need to go back to your doctor if the pain is bad, but first try a really mild diet, like boiled rice and chicken, and maybe carrots. Do an invalid diet. Be very gentle with your stomach for a couple of days to see if there are any changes, then add things and note what happens.

    Look up post cholecystectomy syndrome.

''Good post cholecystectomy foods include beets, cucumbers, okra, sweet potatoes, avocadoes, acidic foods, and foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids. Foods to be avoided after gallbladder surgery include trans fats, saturated fats, dairy, eggs, coffee and black tea, most fruit juices, alcohol, chocolate, cabbage, and radishes.''

but I don't agree about the acidic foods. There seems to be an increase in reflux type pain after gall bladder removal, and acidic food can bring on an attack of heartburn. If you can control it with diet you'll be fine, but if you're in pain even after eating a small amount of plain food, like plain boiled rice, you need to see your doctor. I did a lot of research after my op, and I read stories of people taking 12 months to be themselves again, so don't worry yet.
    Good luck!
