Am I at risk for diabetes?

My dad has diabetes, and there is a lot of people with diabetes on his side of the family. I've always had a problem with low blood sugar. If I don't eat something about every two hours or if I skip a major meal, I get really weak, shaky, dizzy, nauseous, and bad headaches. I never have any problems with high blood sugar, just low blood sugar. I also have non-epileptic seizures that can happen when my blood sugar is low. Do I have diabetes or am I soon to develop it? I'm only 20. Will I develop it later in life or can I still save myself?
I also am not overweight. I'm actually underweight because of a very fast metabolism. Is my problem really low blood sugar or just a very fast metabolism?

It looks like you have the opposite problem.
Get a meter and testing supplies. Do not get it from medical sources -- if you do, you won't be able to get health coverage later (Obama or no Obama). Try Ebay.

Using that, you can figure out how much pasta and how much salad you need to be eating to maintain a healthy blood sugar level.

I recommend you stay away from canned sodas.

Low blood sugar is perfectly normal in some peoples lives. It is called Hypoglycemia which is the opposite of Hyperglycemia(high blood sugar). I would get a meter from a local pharmacy, CVS is fine. Most likely you have Hypoglycemia which means you can carry around sugar things to help control your blood sugar. This is a result of an an over active pancreas. This means that you might develop type 2 diabetes later in your lifetime. I have had juvenile diabetes for 5 years now. Yes, diabetes is hereditary, but only 10%. So, eat healthy and exercise regularly and you should be fine. Your a little too old to develop type 1 diabetes.
