I went to the dentist yesterday n got a couple cavaties filled. As the novacaine started to wear off (several hours later), all over my body, it began to feel like the outer layer of my skin felt numb. I can feel things, but the best way I can describe it is like wearing a sweater. U can still feel things but they r slightly "muted". I dunno. It feels weird. Other than that, I feel perfectly fine. Will this get better? And could this be an adverse reaction to novacaine?
Its been over 24 hours. I got my cavities filled at about 2pm. Yesterday afternoon.Posted 2 years ago # -
Yes, it sounds like a reaction to the drug.

This could definitely be a reaction to the Novocaine. It's a form of sedation that shuts down the nerves in your gums for a few hours. I would definitely call your dentist and doctor and get it checked out. I'm not exactly sure what happens or can happen but i would take any chances!

Yes, widespread numbness is a side effect of novocaine. Novocaine works by inhibiting some neurons' sensory transmissions. If it lasts more than a week, see a doctor.
