Are allergic reactions to vaccines genetic? I am especially wondering about , pertussis?

No-you can be predisposed to allergies if your parents have allergic conditions but its just to general allergies not to specific ones eg i could be allergic to penicillin -my son could be allergic to eggs. Allergies are not genetic (ie you dont have an allergy gene to be allergic to peanut) and are not passed on-if your parents have allergies you have a potential of having allergies but then you could just as easily have no allergies)
There can be things in vaccines that can be problematic if you have allergies to certain foods eg Flu shot is not recommended for those with severe egg allergy.
So-just because your parents may have had an allergic reaction to a vaccine doe not mean that you will.
Discuss it with your health care provider and they will be able to help you weigh up the risks versus the benefits.
