I've had a lump on my back(bottom left) for years, When I first noticed it Doc said its 'fatty tissue'.
Recently I've been getting alot of pain in my back around the area of the lump also down my leg. I saw doctor today, and shes making an appointment for me to get an ultrasound, she said it definitely doesn't feel like fatty tissue. She said it could be a "torn muscle". Would I not be in severe pain if that was the case? Its more of an uncomfortable pain the now.
Could she be thinking something else but not letting on?

    Any help appreciated.
    Thank you.
Thanks R.O, I forgot to mention that I've to see a physiotherapist also.

What is being thought is not always beneficial for the patient. The course of diagnostics is to look at the clinical signs and symptoms. At a later occasion it can be pursued again. Docs shouldn't hide but malinformation is not good either.

I think you should ask for referral to a physical therapist for management of the discomfort and pain. A PT can also have a second opinion.

It wouldn't make sense for them to tell you every possibility for a symptom, they typically will tell you the most likely & go from there. If they rule out the most likely, then they move on to the next possible.

Medicine, unfortunately has a lot of detective work involved because the same problem can present in many different ways in many different people.

It sounds like your doctor is taking reasonable action, sending you for an ultrasound to investigate.

Remember, doctors are people too, with different personalities, etc. If you are not happy with the service you are getting from one, you are more than welcome to shop around & find another.
