    It could certainly be arthritis.

A couple of the hallmark signs of rheumatoid arthritis include morning stiffness for more than an hour and involvement of small joints (like your hands) in a symmetric pattern (you said you had it in both hands, right?).

Does anyone in your family have any rheumatalogic disorders? (rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc?--you might want to find this information out from your parents).

In the meantime, I'd head to your doctor. He or she is likely to order a few lab tests and possibly xrays of your hands and possibly feet to look for the erosions that are typical of rheumatoid arthritis.

Anyway...it's hard to tell what it is without asking more questions and examining you. In the meantime, take notice for any swelling or redness to your joints. Take note of what makes it better or worse. Go see your doctor and get real diagnosis. The good news is that if you do have RA and it's detected early, your symptoms and its progression can be limited with early treatment.

Another word of advice, I don't know if this will apply, but if you are diagnosed with RA, I'd see a rheumatologist. It's been my experience that most PCPs aren't up to date or completely comfortable with rheumatologic diseases.
