Atenolol for hypertension and dosage ?

(2 posts)
  1. What effect would a dosage of 400mg of atenolol have in a 14year old girl? I was abit depressed and took some pills. Anyway, is this dosage not 'big' enough to be called an overdose? Should I just eat some salty foods and liquids to counteract the drug?

Its clearly a overdose. The dr prescribed half a tablet a day for my liable hypertension thats 25mg, and your talking about 400mg... That can cause you to die. Seek medical attention right away! The side effects from it depend on what its done to your body.

Atenolol is a beta blocker, they are dangerous drugs, and you most certainly shouldn't be screwing around with them.Make sure you know exactly WTF your taking and why, and get a second opinion from another doctor. Its slightly outrageous that your 14 and he prescribed something like that for you! Did you take someones medication or what?

Go to the hospital. 400mg is the highest dosage taken twice.
