Broke a tooth. Help!?

(6 posts)
  1. This may sound ridiculous, but I was eating my dinner and chomped down on my fork. Now I have a somewhat large-sized nick in my tooth...
I don't have the money right now to have it fixed, but it's really rough right now...Can I file it down maybe? I don't know, please help.
    Thank you.

If you have a dentist that you go to regularly, you can call and ask if they'll just smooth it out for free. There actually isn't any insurance code for just smoothing out a rough surface of a tooth, so they really shouldn't be charging you for it. Then once you get enough money you can have it filled.

do not file it down because you could hit other nerves making it worse!!! you will have to save up money and get it done professionally

  4. You can file it down with a metal or glass file but it's not a good thing to do, your risking your tooth being damaged further.

It may crack your tooth or just take the enamel off. If it's a small chip it will work, if it's not don't try you will do more damage then it's worth.

Go to a dentist and ask if you can pay in installments.

  5. start calling around and see how much a dentists will charge to smooth the chip - if they say they have to see it first - ask for a free consultation.

i know it is hard to keep your tongue off it so call ASAP.

I know you said you don't have money, but go to your local dentist and show him what happened. They will be able to professionaly file it and bond it if you want to. It will be good as new!! I got five teeth bonded for about 500 dollars here in good ole Iowa. So thats about 100 per tooth. I am sure if you ask your family the will help you....it's your teeth!!
