Can 2 first time partners get genital herpes from sex?

    nope if neither of you has ever slept with anyone else then no its impossible, unless you get it from mouth cold sores etc i think?

    Genital herpes is usually caused by HSV-2 (herpes simplex virus type 2), but is increasingly being caused by HSV-1 (cold sore virus) because of the rising popularity of oral sex. Therefore if either one of you get cold sores you and you have oral sex while you have an active cold sore you risk transfering it to your partner's genitals. Neither of you will have the HSV-2 virus but you may have the HSV-1 virus as it is often passed to babies by people kissing on the mouth with a cold sore.

    Me and my gf have a healthy sex life and we have only had sex with each other, Is it possible for one of us 2 get genital herpes?

    not possible unless one of you have a cold sore and give oral sex to the other. avoid oral sex or kissing when cold sores are present...cold sores are a form of herpes but hsv1, and genital herpes is hsv2. genital herpes caused by hsv1 are milder than hsv2 because it prefers to live on the mouth.

    If you're both 100 percent a virgin (haven't had oral sex either) then you shouldn't worry about getting genital herpes form each other as virgins are not likely to have HSV2 south of the boarder. But you could have HSV1 (what causes cold sores) passed from your partners mouth to your genitals or vice versa.
    How ever keep an eye out for cold sores. These are caused by oral herpes (HSV1), very contagious while there is an out break and can be passed to the genitals if oral sex is given while some one has a cold sore. Cold sores are often passed during child hood by being innocently kissed or kissing some one that has cold sores.
    If any one happens to get a cold sore don't kiss or give oral sex while there is any sign of an out break.
