Can a cold sore REALLY give you herpes?

    Kissing someone with a cold sore (which is herpes simplex 2) can transfer the virus to the one being kissed. So don't do it.

    I know it sounds like a stupid question, but can it? I've got a new FWB and hes got a cold sore, we were planning on meeting tonight, but i dont want to get herpes. LOL.

    This may look like a stupid question, but im serious.
    And please, only serious answers.

    Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. You should definitely refrain from sexual contact (such as oral sex and kissing) if your partner has open sores.
