Can a person do damage to their heart if they run too much and push themselves to the limit?

  1. A person without congenital cardiac anomalies cannot damage the heart this way. Exercise has tremendous cardiac benefits. However, a person born with a heart problem (cardiomyopathy) or other abnormality could definitely do damage. Rare, and unfortunate.

    Best wishes.

Also can a person die if they push themselves to the limit like in exercise or sport. Like I have seen soccer players collapse on the field and die. Is this because they overexerted their hearts?
