If your blood test came back normal for cancer and you have blood in your stool, it could be a sign of some other problem. Blood in your stool could be an ulcer someplace in your stomach, colon, or intestines. Blood tests for cancer might be kind of limited, but there are plenty of other tests to see if you have other types of cancer.

Cancer would be the last thing I would jump to as there are many other things that can cause this.

Sandra - Blood tests only indicate cancer of the blood, such as leukemia, or spread of a previously known colon cancer. When you told your GP you had blood "on" your stools, s/he should have done a rectal exam since over 95% of the time, red blood on the stool is caused by extremely common, benign hemorrhoids that are located just in front of the anal opening, on the rim of the opening, or just inside the rim. Hemorrhoids are just thin-walled veins just below the skin which easily bleed when rubbed. Less likely is a benign skin fistula. Both can be treated. First, and most important is a simple exam by the GP and efforts to eat a soft residue diet, avoid constipation, and wipe gently after a bowel movement, always from front to back. Now back to your GP for an easy and accurate diagnosis and treatment to take away your worries and cure what ails you.

If your bloodwork came back normal that indicates there is nothing wrong with you. No cancer is present if blood test is negative not to worry there is no cancer
