Of course it could get infected. Shes opening up her skin: dirt, and infections could enter her wound. You may need to sit down and talk with her about her cutting and find her a way to stop. Its not healthy and it could kill her if she cuts herself the wrong way.

Its usually unlikely to get an infection, but it depends on a lot of stuff.
-if she does'nt clean what she cuts with, bacteria could be in the cut from the start
-if she cuts in a "dirty" area of the body. By this I mean lower legs, feet, hands, because they come in contact with the most germies
-If she cuts over cuts. By opening an area up over and over again, it can likely get infected. The scab protects from bacteria. Now, out of the 30+ cuts on my arms, and 50+ other places only of them only got infected once, when I was new to cutting. I opened it up dozens of times, and I payed for it. It got whiteish and actually smelled foul. But its fine now since i let it heal.
Flesh eating viruses are very unlikely...
Don't beg her to stop, that makes those who cut feel worse.
Brighten her day. Thats the ulimate way to help stop depression and cutting. Make her day specil, have her over after school, go to the mall. Whatever! At least with myself, if a day can be considered a "good day" at the end of the day, the urge to cut is less strong.Posted 1 year ago #
