Gee--such attitude--no crap --well here's some crap for you. This is an illness which needs monitoring though-out your life from a doctor that specialises in lupus, so a true diagnosis is important.
You do not say how old you are nor how you come to the conclusion that you may be suffering from lupus. Symptoms as well as protein in the urine are not a sure diagnosis, for other issues mimic lupus. Constant blood work and markers--X-rays--gastric doctors, kidney, heart, lung, a care plan and doctors working together along side of yourself, will help you live a long and productive life.
The best way--would be to seek the advice and continuous care of a very good and qualified doctor that specialises in Lupus, lupus can also lead to other autoimmune issues, called mixed connective illness.
I have been a lupus patient since child-hood-----the illness will affect many different parts of your body--as it progresses--- heart, lungs, skeletal, kidney's, mind, the list can go on and on.
Yes--you usually will get the "wolf" rash during a flare or if you have been in the sun for a long time as well as certain foods which you might eat--but to answer your question--you can have lupus with out having the rash, you can also have the rash but not know it for it would not be very prominent.
Hope that helped--good luck to you.

Yes! Lupus takes may different forms which makes it hard to diagnosis. My friend's Lupus expressed itself by the swelling of limp nods in her arm pits that made her arm and had swell up like a balloon. She is also constantly having joint pain and is always exhausted. It many different forms. I have seen that some sort of rash does present itself eventually.
