the other day at work I went to help a resident who had messed her bed with BM and she wanted me to put a new sheet on for her while she cleaned herself up. She is a pretty independent person from what I know, this was my first time working with her so I am not too familiar. But she does move around on her on and do a lot of ADL's for herself. After putting on a new sheet I asked her if she needed me to do anything else before I left and she said no. Well a little while later another CNA comes to me and tells me that that resident was fusterated and complained that I had left her to make her own bed. I told him that I took out the dirty linen and put a new clean sheet on and asked if she needed anything else, so I was surprised that she didn't tell me than that she wanted the blanket made on the bed too. I have been told by other CNA's that most of the time the residents get back into their bed and put the bedding over them , so that I should just leave what covers them at the foot of the bed so they can get in easy and get covered up. This lady lays in her bed a lot just like anyone else so that was what I thought would be easier for her and part of the reason I asked her if she needed anything else was to see if she did want the blanket made on the bed, so I thought if she did she would have told me then. Anyway she complained to the nurse and so I told the nurse what I just told you and she said that she really needs to have the bed made for her, which I know already, I just didn't know that she wanted it all made right then. After that I went in and talked to the resident and told her that I was sorry and that I didn't realize she wanted it all made and I felt bad. She said okay , but at first she was like well you weren't doing your job and you didn't get the right training, and stuff like that. That made me feel sorta bad , and kinda caused me to be stressed out. I've just never had a resident say something so mean to me before. But I know residents will sometimes say things and I know that I can't let it bother me, so my question is just , do you think I will get in trouble by someone above the nurse, like maybe the nurse will say something about me and get me into trouble?

I'm a C.N.A and if you get into trouble for something as small as that then we , myself included would all be fired. Don't let this stress you out, it will be forgotten about in no time. If anything your director might talk to you but you will not get fired. Don't worry, you are fine.
