I got a tooth extraction last Monday and I went to the dentist on thursday and she said it was healing well and I believe it, because it doesn't hurt much, BUT... now when I drink it hurts like heck, it's like the water just goes in the hole and it hurts so bad that it gives me some kind of shock D:

I had my cousin check if he saw something in the hole of the extraction and he said that it's all black (The blood clot probably) but I've been looking and it's like if everything is closing... like the gum and everything. Does it close WITH the blood clot in it? (that's another question though lol)
The real question is, is it normal for it to be hurting like that when I drink water?

  2. Yes it will hurt you for about 2 days up to a week when you drink anything cold or hot or anything and i am sure food will also hurt the reason for this is that the nerves are exposed from the tooth being taken out of your gum the nerves will have to heel up and it will take a while use a antibacterial mouth wash as it will help prevent infection in the gum where the tooth was extraction from take some pain relieve to easy the pain.

    Best of luck

  3. Some of the root surface of the tooth next to the socket is exposed and this is where the cold sensitivity is coming from. As the socket fills in and heals over, this should get much better. Good luck.
