Consistant cough without other cold like symptoms?

Since Monday I have had this consistent cough without fever, runny nose or even a run down feeling that I normally get when I get sick. I have taken some heavy duty cough medicine that my pharmacist has recommended along with drinking Neocitrian, but they both don't really help the cough because it still is going strong. I cannot sleep at night because my coughing is keeping me up (as soon as I fall asleep my throat gets that tickle feeling and then it wakes me up). I also have a touch of asthma but this doesn't feel like asthma symptoms, I don't even have a fast reacting inhaler just Advair. This has never really happened before, I use to be able to take the children's cough strips that would get rid of it (way less strong than the one I'm using now) but now nothing seems to be able to do the trick. It is really starting to get annoying now because I have not slept well for almost a week and my chest is so sore from coughing that much.

Could something else be the cause of the cough or am I just being impatient with this strange cold?

    There are several possible reasons:
    1. Allergy. Do u have a new pet in the house? Have you been in contact with any animals in a prolonged term? Or is there a building under construction near your house, or maybe it's your own house that's being renovated? Other possible things: dusty home, or unclean bed sheets and pillow. If the answer is yes, you might want to take bee propolis supplement. The good ones can really help you. It helped me.
    2. I don't know where you live, but in my country, there's this thing called 'the 100-days cough'. Nothing will help, so you just need to be patient and wait it out. I experienced this, so yeah, enduring it is a pain.
    3. As a last ditch resort, try this: take lime juice with one spoonful of sweet soy sauce three times a week. Avoid cold water, ice cream, chocolate, fried food, candy, and anything too sweet.

If nothing works, ur best chance is a good internist, who will probably order a chest X-ray for u, to determine whether there are any spots in ur lungs or whatever it is doctors check.

I know that I get dried out a lot during this time of year. I usually sleep with a vaporizer in the bedroom and it might be helpful to use a cool mist humidifier for the rest of the house. If these don't help - see your doctor. It could be an upper respiratory infection.
