The herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 can incubate in your system for years, some people are even immune and never show symptoms. If you have a reccuring rash that has a sore like appearance then it is very likely that you do indeed have genital herpes, the fact that your boyfriend now displays symptoms supports the herpes conclusion even further. Herpes outbreaks can be intermittent meaning one year you may have a few outbreaks and the next year you have none. YOU ARE STILL CONTAGIOUS EVEN WITH NO OUTBREAK.

My question to you is; why the hell were you having unprotected sex with people knwoing full well you had a rash that came and went constantly? I mean seriously, where is common sense these days?

An initial out break of herpes is usually painful but symptoms and appearances of out breaks can vary from person to person that gets infected. Herpes is usually tender to the touch and can look like tiny blisters or open sores. Herpes does reoccur and usually in the same location.
If they never tested you then even the doctor can't tell you for sure if you have herpes or not. I would strongly suggest that you and your boy friend get tested for herpes. That is the only way you are going to tell for sure if you have herpes or not. Yes you can pass herpes with out an out break but it's less likely to happen when you have no signs of an out break AND if you are taking antiviral medication.

I always see the stats about how most people with herpes don't know they have it, and I wonder how can that be. Don't people get tested?

Then I see questions like this and I understand why. If you have a RASH on you genitals, it's time to get tested for herpes.

Is it herpes? I have no idea. That's why they have tests for these things!!!!
