My mom cut her hand on the side about 5 hours ago and not it's swollen and very sensitive when you touch it. I'm a little worried.
    Could this be tetanus?
What are some symptoms we should look for?

    No.

Tetanus takes much, much longer. Days later. Unless the object that made the wound was contaminated with soil or the wound was exposed to dirt, the risk is minimal.

The symptoms are spasms and clenched muscles. Lockjaw is common. By the time these symptoms appear, the prognosis isn't good.

If it's been more than 10 years, she should get a tetanus booster anyway. This would protect against any exposure to the bacterium.
