Hey so, i think i might have diabetes. My mom pointed out a couple weeks ago that i drink alot, and pee alot and she wanted to get me checked for it. I told her i was fine and we dropped the subject. But i got scared so i looked up symptoms and these are the ones i have: Being really thirsty all the time and drinking alot and peeing alot mostly at night, eating alot more thatn usual, being really tired (i gets good 8 and a half hours sleep) and napping alot. When i get scratches or something they heal very slowly, i get headaches alot, and my hands tingle and fall asleep alot. And from time to time i have blackouts that last anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds.
So i thought i could possibly have it. And i wanted to go to the doctor, but my thing is, if i havent gone yet and its been about a month or so since the symptoms came, arent i fine ? I mean i havent died or went into a coma, so does that mean i dont have it ? or should i go to a doctor.

You have some of the symptoms of diabetes. And some of them like blackouts are scary.
See your doctor as soon as possible. Get a blood test and an a1c test.
Until then, eat a low carb diet, stay away from all junk foods, and NO SODA!

Usually Type I diabetes is detected and diagnosed when you are young, so I wouldn't be too concerned. But it is possible to be hypoglycemic, which is similar to diabetes. For that I would go to the doctor and get yourself checked out. It should be a simple blood test or urine test.
I wouldn't worry about it just yet, so try not to get yourself so worked up over it, okay?

You should go to the doctor. Even if you aren't a diabetic, I think it's important to understand what is going on. Blackouts aren't normal, and neither are several of your other symptoms. Better to get it taken care of now, rather than in an ICU (with all those icky tubes and other stuff going on), right?
The doctor will run blood work on you, hopefully run an ECG to check your heart, test your urine, and maybe send you for an MRI. If you do have diabetes, getting it under control NOW is important. People with diabetes which is not treated properly can lose their vision, kidney function, and have a really rough time.
Good luck, and I hope you get some answers soon!

I am no diabetes expert... my daughter is 23 years old and her doctor THINKS she has type 1 diabetes, he told her today. Tomorrow she goes for the more extended glucose test which will confirm it or rule it out (fingers crossed!!!) You have many of the same symptoms my daughter has, too. She blacked out cold 2 nights ago which was the scariest for us as well as her, and she bumped her head really hard :( lucky she really could have bumped the cornor of the counter and cracked her head open on top of it!
Here is a scary thought: my son works with some young man, he's 22 years old... he was at work when the coworker passed out cold on the floor. He was in great shape everyone thought. They called an ambulance. A few days later the young man came back to work, he said he has a heart condition and now has a slew of pills he must take every day.
The thing is, you don't know. It could be a host of things: could be a heart condition, could be diabetes..... the kid at my son's work could have died. Now he knows and is taking preventative measures to keep LIVING, that's WAY too young to die! Type 1 diabetes, I do know this, it IS FATAL if it's not monitored and treated with insulin. Look it up in Wikipedia, I'm not joking. I read it today. My daughter could have gone into a coma. She could have died. I can't imagine life without my daughter {{{SHUDDER!!!}}}.
For yourself, and for your family who loves you, and your friends who love you, take yourself and get yourself checked out, and DO THIS FAST. If your doc can't see you for many days or weeks, go somewhere else. Go to a walk in clinic if you have to. It could be something simple, but you have many symptoms which may add up to something more. You can save yourself easily with a visit to the doctor, and following his advice strictly. May not be the easiest thing you've ever done, but your life depends on what you do and how you take care of yourself.
I'm a mother, and I know, if you were my daughter, I would not take no for an answer. Get checked out, honey. Just do it.

Serious diabetics pee just about every hour. If you pee only 3-5 hrs between events, you are probably not diabetic. You have some of the symptoms of diabetes. Some of those symptoms are also caused by diet, or other things. Go to a doctor and have an A1c test. The A1c will tell the doctor how your blood sugar has been running over the past 3 months. Should be less than 7%. If it is slightly above that, don't worry. Just cut down on the carbs (sugars, breads and pastas, rice, etc). You don't have to eliminate them.
