    Hi,

I am a physical therapist. Meniscus tears technically do not heal. The meniscus does not have a blood supply so once the tear occurs it stays. The good news is that physical therapy can be very effective in reducing pain, restoring knee motion and function. Just because you have a tear does not mean you have to have surgery. I hope you are using ice to help relieve the swelling.

    Good luck.
