Did Lexapro work for you ?

(3 posts)
  1. I am 16 and I was prescribed on Lexpro on December 10th because I talked to my doctor about postpartum depression. I had my baby in September. I was put on the lowest dose (10 mg) in the beginning. At the beginning of February I still didn't notice a change in stress/anxiety/depression, so my dose was raised to 20 mg. At first I felt fine. I wasn't crying and my patience for my baby became really good. After a week of taking two pills though, everything just went right back to normal. I felt all the same things only without crying. That's the only thing that changed. I was still getting impatient with my baby and stressing over every little thing. I don't want to look at medicine to make me happy and I really didn't even want to start on Lexapro, but I did. Now I'm disappointed in myself for it not working. I stopped taking it because it wasn't doing anything besides making me tired, dizzy, hot, and giving me migraines. Has anyone else taken Lexapro and have no help at all ? Am I expecting the medicine to do too much ? Positive answers, please.
My mom took Lexapro a couple of years ago for about three years and she said it worked wonderfully for her. This is why I think I'm a little crazy, because it did nothing for me. /:

The reason you are stressing about your child is not because of a mental issue, it is because you are still a child yourself thinking you can take the responsibility of bearing a child. You might be expecting the medicine to do too much. How long did you give the 20mg to work? It takes up to 6-8 weeks for full effect. I tried lexapro, it helped but i went on and off so much that it backfired and made me suicidal.

Lexapro made me gain 20 pounds AND made me suicidal!! What works for your mom may not work for you!! My mom is on Effexor XR and she loves it while Effexor makes me nauseous and anxious.
