It is completely false. I do not eat meat at all and haven't for a long time. I recently went to the dentist and they showed my my x-rays. I have minor cavities between all my teeth from not flossing. Apparently, flossing does not just remove chunks of food, but also the harmful bacteria plaque. Between teeth is a great place to for plaque to hide because it is warm and dark and out of harms way. If you brush and do not floss, you miss all of that plaque so it just sits between your teeth and rots them.

You're friend needs a new dentist for sure.

I agree that they are both insane but most probably your friend is the insane one making up that story or whatnot.

Here's a fact, my dentist told me to brush and floss everyday. Before I brush my teeth, I floss first so I get rid of all the icky stuff you just flossed out. You should floss atleast once a day. Flossing in between your teeth removes food debris and plaque from in between the teeth that a toothbrush can't reach. So even if you don't eat red meat you should freaking floss.

A friend told me that her dentist said this, but I think she (or her dentist) is insane. How could that be possible? Other things get stuck in your teeth, right? Please let me know if you have been told this, or if you know for a fact that it's completely false.

Only floss the teeth you want to keep.... I hope that's all of them.
Flossing once a day at night before brushing is the best thing you can do for maintaining your oral health.
