A PSA test and a Digital Rectal Exam should be part of an annual exam for men 40 and over. If there is an elevated PSA, then followup exam by a Urologist is needed. They will likely also test PSA and another test called Free PSA. A urine test (e.g. for blood) is also typical as well as a DRE.
