it does not hurt while you are having the procedure done, but after you are finished there will be pain and MAJOR swelling. for the pain they will prescribe meds that should keep you numbed up great, but i do suggest taking a week off from school or work because the swelling will take about that long to go down.
also, dont smoke while your gums are healing. it can cause dry socket which is EXTREMELY painful.
they will tell you the same thing, but its serious. i didnt listen :/
you'll be fine :]Posted 2 years ago # -
Two years ago, I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled out. However they were very deep in my gums and I didn't even feel them when I had them. It's understandable to be nervous; after all, you are having your teeth pulled. I received laughing gas and Novocaine as well, but I declined to receive full anesthesia because I'm weird like that. If your surgeon offers you full anesthesia (you'd be totally knocked out for the procedure), I recommend you take it, so you can just sleep through it. I was awake, but all I felt was the pressure from the surgeon trying to take out my wisdom teeth (I think he used some sort of pliers thing but don't worry about that). Don't worry if you can't have full anesthesia; as long as you get the shots, your mouth should be numb and you shouldn't feel it. But afterward, the areas that were operated on will be a bit sore, and you might get chipmunk cheeks like I did.
