Finger nail fell off how long till normal?

    i slammed my finger nail in a car door about a month and a half ago it all turned purple and recently fell off now a whitish nail like thing with some brown on it it left(feels like a nail but it isnt clear like a nail) people say this is normal, if so how long till the nail looks normal again and also should i cover it up or anything

    You can cover It with a Light dressing If you would like to. This may take as long as 6 months to a year depending on how well you body regenerates the nail. Wish i could be more precise.

    It took my sister about 3ish months to grow it back.

    I did the same thing, I'm recently awaiting for it to grow back. When i got a check up my doctor said after it falls off it could take at least 3 months.

    around 3-6 months is the norm but anything longer or quicker isn't unusual. It probably won't grow back as smooth as a normal nail but it's the same as. Be care full not to damage the nail bed while it is exposed.
