Gestational Diabetes -- is 130's high for after dinner glucose reading?

My doctor told me that my blood glucose should be 120 two hours after each meal, but lately has been in the low to mid 130's. Is this considered high for gestational diabetes? I have read that some consider under 140 to be within the "normal" range. I feel fine.

You need to rely on your doctors .
    Good luck.

It depends on what you mean by "high." The 130s are high in terms of what a non-diabetic person's blood sugars would be, but you are not in danger-zone by any means. Most diabetics are told to aim for blood sugars under 140, but pregnant women are told to aim under 120. This is because a mom's blood sugar levels can impact the baby, and so doctors want pregnant women to maintain tighter control.

That said, try not to worry too much. There are a lot of really easy things you can do to get your post-meal numbers down, and there is some controversy about whether doctors are over-diagnosing/ over-treating GD in the first place. As long as your numbers don't go too much higher, I think you'll be ok.
