Male patient (50s) with the following complaints: Tiredness, cold-feet, loss of appetite and restless sleep. No history of heart disease. Blood-work within normal range. Uninterrupted sleep 4-6hrs per night. General good health, blood pressure and pulse normal. Height 5'10" and 230lbs. Married and father of three. Disposition optimistic and outgoing. Patient expressed concerns of possible "wheat or food starch" allergies: however describes no correlating glutton allergy symptoms. Physician suggested multi-vitamin supplements, moderate exercise and afternoon power-naps.

I don't think exercise and naps is the answer.

What do you suggest as a treatment plan for feeling tired all day long?

[ All answers welcome. No TDs given. Asker posts feedback prior to choosing BA. ]

Wow! You have a gift my friend. I agree with your assessment, my schedule is overbooked and I do have much on my mind. And many conflicts in need of resolution. Happiness is a prescription I need - like oxygen

    Melchizedek -
100% Real Royal Jelly - its on my shopping list. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yoga!? OK, I really like the idea but I don’t have the time. The good news is, I do walk on the treadmill (5 days per week) with the TV news on, a book (open on shelf) and while talking on my cell phone (Bluetooth in my ear). Welcome to my life.

Camille - B-12 is a great idea. Often thought of getting B-12 shots, but don’t like needles. But I do take mega vitamins daily.

    Susan Yarrawonga -
True! I need more sleep, no - I need uninterrupted restful sleep. Thank you!

Correction, 4-6 would be enough is uninterrupted and restful. Love your avatar name.

I do agree with exercise and multivitamins. I'd go with extra vitamin B complex. Hydrolyzed collagen protein might give him an energy boost, too.

Celiac sprue - or gluten intolerance - is usually something you don't
miss. My mother had it the last 5 or 6 years of her life and she was
really quite ill - losing almost 50 pounds in the process of figuring out
what ailed her. She practically looked anorexic.

I recommend a look at this site - http://www.earthclinic.com/ for
more alternative suggestions. Go to the "Ailments" tab and look
under "Low Energy". There might be something there that can help.

Add - HCP is high in B vitamins, so if it's used, the B complex supplement isn't needed.

Ginseng will improve circulation (cease use if a headache occures) and full body massage particular attention paid to the bit between the shoulders for general fatigue http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.absolutechinatours.com/UploadFiles/ImageBase/Acupuncture%2520points,%2520front.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.absolutechinatours.com/china-travel/China-Herbal-Medication.html&usg=__7y_4XQT3IABhSKPp0gHGgjfyV0g=&h=823&w=539&sz=157&hl=en&start=2&itbs=1&tbnid=7LvU4KeC4cp_EM:&tbnh=144&tbnw=94&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dacupuncture%2Bpoints%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DG%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1

Full body massage always helps improve circulation by getting the blood moving.
Whatever technique you choose I prefer the more vigorous the better for me till it hurts always does the trick.

He is not getting enough sleep at night.
4 to 6 hours maybe what he has trained himself to live with but it simply is not enough.
    Also, does he snore?
At that height & weight sleep apnea may be at the bottom of the restless sleep.
He would be unaware that he stops breathing but it would cause him to come up in consciousness to right below awake to get that breath.
It also would cause loss of deep REM sleep, making him grow more tired as time passed.
If this is the problem, he needs to have a sleep study done to see if this is happening then the doctor can take it from there.
My hubby had many of the symptoms you describe at about the same height & weight, it was his problem.
He now uses a C-Pap & the difference is remarkable!
    Many Blessings!
