I have had protected vaginal sex with a partner and unprotected vaginal sex with my last boyfriend. I had unprotected anal sex with the same ex boyfriend. 4-6 days after the anal sex, i broke out in genital herpes. I got checked and i was positive for genital herpes. Did i get herpes from the guy I have anal sex with or someone i had vaginal sex with?

You could have contracted it from either one, but herpes is usually tracked back to your most recent sexual partner because of the incubation period. You can pass or get herpes even if condoms are used (condoms don't cover all areas that herpes can affect) and it can lie dormant for long periods of time. You can get a blood test done which counts the number of antibodies in your blood for herpes, this could give you some idea of when you contracted it. You can get herpes from anal or vaginal sex, herpes can affect all areas of the genitals, not just one part of them.
