how am i not addicted to cigarettes?

    the first time i smoked a cigarette was over a year ago. ive been smoking at least once a day for a while now. but recently i havnt had a cigarette in exactly a week but i dont feel anything. some people say they became addicted after 3 or 4 cigarettes, so how come im not addicted? i really really WANT one, but i dont shake and go crazy for one.

    im not TRYING to get addicted, im just curious.

    Hi when you say you really really want one you are addicted. You don't have to go crazy or shake etc. you can mentally just crave one. It is a terrible habit to quit and you do need to quit before you smoke too long. I used to smoke and then quit cold turkey, but i smoked heavily. It wasn't easy and i did go through the withdrawal symptoms bad. But if you could see what a person's lungs look like who has smoked for many years and the terrible cough a cigarette smoker has every morning and the terrible stuff they bring up when coughing you would quit and never start again. So for your lungs and health try not to smoke anymore. It is really hard to quit and once you do you have accomplished a great task. Good Luck.

  4. consider yourself lucky and quit while you can! It's a disgusting, expensive and unhealthy habit! I have been smoking for years and wish i could stop! I keep trying and I have faith I will someday. I started like you, and before you know it you will be smoking a pack a day and will NEED it. good luck to you!

    There are all levels and versions of addiction. Ask yourself why on earth you are doing something that is tied to so many fatal and debilitating diseases. It's very difficult to quit, so quit now before it gets worse. Count yourself lucky and get something else to make you feel good, like regular exercise or playing an instrument or chewing gum. If you stop forever now, your body can recover to a great extent, but the longer you smoke and the more cigarettes you smoke, the more damage will be done and the closer you will be to a cancer diagnosis or heart disease or stroke. It also gradually makes you wrinkled and causes your teeth to yellow. Ask yourself, am I hungry, angry, lonely or tired when I smoke? What should I be doing when I am hungry, angry, lonely or tired that is healthy for me? Then, plan to do those things, pay attention to your feelings, and do them. Stay away from people who smoke or at least stay away from them when they are smoking. Start hanging around people who are health conscious and try to pick up their good habits. Start an aerobic activity. It's hard to run when you smoke a lot. Dont' be a fool. Give it up now.

    I think you're addicted.
    Soon, you'll be smoking more.
    You don't have to go crazy for one or shake if you want one.
    If you actually want one, or feel you need it, you're addicted.
