How long did it take you to learn to put in contact lenses?

  1. I went to the eye doctor last week to try contacts for the first time. The woman there was absolutely no help, she basically said 'put the thing on your finger and then in your eye.' I'm not an idiot but I need something more than that. She offered no tips or tricks and she's the only one at the office who can train me with the contacts. I was only able to stay 30 mins because I had to go back to work so I scheduled another appointment this week to try again. Is this normal or am I just very impatient? After 30 mins I wasn't getting anywhere and she offered no help so I gave up. I thought if it takes me 30 mins to get one in, then another 30 mins to get the other in, then 30 mins to get them out, this could take all day! I looked into Lenscrafters but they want a lot of money for a trial pair and consultation. Can anyone wear contacts or are there some people who never learn?

  2. Don't worry. You will learn in no time. It took me a while too. It took me about four tries before I got just one in. I was very eager my first time and this was when I was in high school. Maybe this video will help(just wait for advert to go away):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8HTgaTPFRo

I remember really struggling with it, and spending a lot of time in the bathroom trying to get them in. In retrospect, I can't believe I stuck with it, but I did and eventually it got easy.

I think part of it is just getting used to putting something in your eye, which is not a normal thing to do. Just be prepared to have some frustrations, but if you stick with it it will pass.
