Hair length doesn't matter. Each individual cat, however, has different dander, and you may be allergic to some and not others. You're just going to expose yourself to each cat that you consider getting and see how you react.

It depends on your allergy. For example, I am allergic to dogs, not because of the hair exactly, but the protein found in it as well as in its saliva. If you insist on getting a cat, go for the short haired one.

The hair length isn't the issue, its the dander from their skin that is the allergen. I am allergic to cats as well and I had one for years. A lot of times, you develop a resistance to your own cat because of the repeated exposure. That's how it was for me. It was only when I went to other people's houses that their cats bothered me and for that I tool allergy pills...

The type of cat hair doesn't matter if you allergic to cat dander. Dander is caused by the cat grooming itself. and as you know cats constantly do this.

Also, studies show that more individuals are less likely to be allergic to black haired animals. So try out a black cat.
