Legally blind means you see no better than 20/200 in either eye, WITH glasses on.

There is no way you could possibly drive with vision like that. Most states require 20/40 or better in at least one eye for a drivers license.

You must have a social services department of some kind you can contact to see what services are available in your area.

I am considering getting my driver's license but i am reluctant because I dont think that they will give it to me if I am legally blind. I have 3 kids and my family is my only means of transportation. I live in MS and there are not many services for a person like me. I really need all the advice I can get, especially expert advice. Please help!

Dear lord, I hope they wouldn't give you a drivers license!! No offense, but if you're legally blind you shouldn't be driving. Unfortunately, that limits your transportation. My suggestion is to call your local bus company and ask them. Or talk to your local Independent Living Center and see what they suggest.

Good luck! Just remember, there are cities where the transportation is just terrible. Sometimes you just need to make the best of it.
