I am 24 and played sports all throughout highschool and part of college. After college I have remained a gym junkie because fitness is extremely important to me. I typically do a lot of cardio (running) and pilates and some light weights.
I had a baby 1 year ago, so it has taken me a while to get back into the swing of things. Now I am working out again and back to my routine, except this time around I feel a pain in my left knee while running on the treadmill. It's not unbearable...but it is relatively constant. I feel it when I climb stairs as well. The pain location is right below my kneecap. I am worried that something bad is wrong! BUT, keep it in mind that I am still a little heavier right now than I ever have been because the baby weight is not completely lost yet. Could it just be the strain of carrying my heavier body?? Or is my cartilage screwing up? I MUST keep running...I am worried it will keep getting worse and worse until I can no longer run. Anybody have any knowledge on this kind of stuff???

I am not an expert, but I used to be a runner and I had developed knee pain. After suffering from it for a few years and even went through some physically therapy, it turned out my knee cartilage had detached itself. I had orthoscopic knee surgery and had it mended back in place. Before I had surgery I would wear a knee strap to relieve the pain when I was running. It's a very simple knee strap with a pressure tube inside that you wear right below the knee cap. You can get them at any pharmacy.
