I just asked what type of Doctor I should see about upper back pain - I don't have a regular Do

    Probably your regular Dr. 1st who will probably send you to a rheumatologist.

    I think maybe you mean pinched nerve. Chiropractors are frequently professional quacks, but they are very effective for back pain in my experience. If that doesn't work go to a general practitioner to rule out anything serious.

    OK most back pain is due to a misalignment in your back. The best type of doctor for this is a chiropractor. I disagree with the former responders saying that chiropractors are quacks. They are now more medically trained than doctors to handle muscle and joint issue (and without medication). If you go to your "regular doctor, they are just going to give you Motrin. This does not fix the issue, it just relieves the pain for a little while.

    A chiropractor should be able to diagnose this problem and be able to correct the issue. In addition, if it is something more serious ( very unlikely), they will then refer you to the proper specialist.

    SO, I disagree with what you've been told. Go see the chiropractor first. They are better trained than your medical doctor to handle this situation.
