I just got my first period now what?

    I am sooo happy I finnaly got my period just a few weeks ago i asked when i would get it and now its finally here YAY i know a lot of people say its sucks but i just got it around ten o'clock i have not told my mom yet but i think a good way to let her know is when we go to the store tomorow just get pads and whatever but actually idnk what i need exactly so can u help me out with that oh BTW i am 12 i got it the same age as my aunt. i wanted to tell my mom sooner but i was not sure right away and i wanted the right moment so basicly what i am asking for is
    1 what do i need to buy?
    2 can you give me some links to sites and stuff
    3 just tell me what i need to know ..........oh and one more thing

    me and my mom are close and my mom does not get her period anymore!
