I have anxiety, depressio & sexual dysfunction, do you think taking a variety of vitamin supplements is a practical choice. I need something, a product or pill taken once a day, that along with proper diet & exercise, will significanty improve the quality of my life. I know there is no such thing as the perfect pill, but I know there are some that do or can greatly improve happiness & energy, motivation & DRIVE!

Your problems sound more psychological, to be honest. With regards to your sexual dysfunction, its not clear from your history whether or not this is a physical or psychological problem. There are physical caused of ED, for example. See your GP please. Vitamin supplements are unlikely to be of benefit unless you are actually deficient, and even then, your problems sound a lot more complex. Being deficient in certain vitamins can make people agitated and anxious, however in all honestly, this is probably the least likely cause of your problems.

I think you need to come to terms with the fact your problems cannot be solved overnight with one pill.

I can't suggest anything to help you, but I do know vitamin supplements will not do anything for depression. High doses of vitamins have never been shown scientifically to have any beneficial effects.

If you think you are suffering from a vitamin deficiency, it's much healthier to change your diet than to start taking vitamin pills. If your diet is inadequate, you should start cooking foods which meet your needs. I find creating a meal from scratch rather theraputic as well, so it might go some way to helping with depression, depending on the type of person you are.

First off, see a doc to have a complete hormone test taken. Based on the symptoms you express, you could be low in testosterone! Eliminate refined carbs (any white foods) such as sugar, rice, bread and pasta as they only wreak havoc to your body.

  5. All three of your symptoms have one thing in common - low serotonin levels. Check out the link of low serotonin symptoms and the biochemical pathway to serotonin:

    Biochemical pathway to serotonin:
    http://www.understand-andcure-anxietyattacks-panicattacks-depression.com/5-htp-Melatonin.html

There are many factors that cause low serotonin levels - vitamin and mineral deficiencies - B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium, zinc, calcium, iron and lack of tryptophan foods in the diet, stress (massage, reiki, mediation and exercise all decrease stress levels), hormonal imbalances, thyroid imbalance, food allergies, heavy metals, poor diet.

Lack of sunlight - vitamin D from the sun is very good for preventing depression and increasing serotonin levels, but not everyone is able to absorb enough vitamin D for various reasons from lack of calcium to the thyroid/parathyroid problems to lack of UV rays depending where you live. A recommended vitamin D serum level is 70ng/ml.

The gut/brain link has been well established and absorption problems lead to any sort of mental conditions. Low stomach acid/lack of digestive enzymes in the diet, use of acid blockers affect absorption of vital nutrients, celiac's disease, crohn's disease, overgrowth of candida, to name a few, prevent vital absorption of essential vitamins and minerals in the gut. Excessive copper blocks the biochemical pathway to serotonin. A hair analysis can check for any metal toxicity.

As you can see in the biochemical pathway to serotonin, the amino acid L-tryptophan is essential to create serotonin (feel good chemical and moodstabiliser). 60mg of L-tryptophan is needed to make 1mg of niacin so a deficiency of niacin in the diet uses up L-tryptophan and prevents the conversion to 5HTP then into serotonin and then into melatonin (sleep hormone). This is why niacin treatment is effective for many mental conditions from depression and anxiety to bipolar and schizophrenia.

When your serotonin levels improve you will feel much better. I would also recommend upping your vitamin B12 levels. This is essential for energy. :)

your symptoms fit the description of endocrine imbalance. thyroid dysfunction is often the cause of depression, and adrenal weakness can cause anxiety and decreased sexual interest and function. the answer may involve more than one facet of health. you may need some dietary supplementation, but nerve interference may also be a major factor in your producing these problems. see an hio method/upper cervical specific chiropractor.

no pill will be able to help you with a mental problem.... don't take pills for depression, that's a killer.

as for taking vitamins for this...don't think it will help with the anxiety and depression.

perhaps u can take some workshops to build up self confidence
