When your arches are off, your feet usually go inward. That makes your skeletal system off. Pain can show up different places. Your ankles can be affected, your knees, your spine, your neck, even your jaw. She might need orthodics. An orthopedic surgeon will check to see if a leg is longer than the other and will check to see if she has flat feet.

Orthodics can make the difference in being energetic or tired, being sore or normal. My dad had flat feet and yet could run all day without his feet hurting. I on the other hand I have to have orthodics. It was a good decision to get them.

  2. I have noticed that my daughter sometimes complains of having sore ankles. I was looking at her walk today and noticed she has slightly flat feet. Could this be the cause of her having sore ankles at times? When she has had a busy day with a lot of running she also complains of having sore knees and I wondered if it could be because of that too? I always just let her relax and put it down to over working the muscles. She is only young.
I will go see my doctor about this because while her feet look flat I am not 100% sure they are :) but would a sore ankle be one of the symptoms?

    Thank you

I would say no they should not be causing the ankle pain. The ankle pain and the knee pain are more than likely caused by tight tendons on the muscles in those areas. Once the tendons go tight, which usually happens when there has been some pain to the area, they end up pulling on areas which have the least amount of resistance and that pulls to parts close together which shouldn't be there. The ankle muscles are harder to know for sure which ones to go for but there iw on you can try to get released to see what happens and here it is:
    Foot Muscle:
With your foot in your lap place your fingers side by side at the back of the arch right in front of the heel and press in hard and hold. After 30 seconds slowly raise your toes up as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your toes there for another 30 seconds.
For the knees it's usually the kneecap tendon which shortens up and with kids it's easy to see how the knees could get banged up easily. Here is how you can release the tendon for the knees:
    Kneecaps:
Do while sitting on a chair with no front cross braces.
While sitting have your leg resting in a stretched mode. Place both your thumbs, side by side, about 2 inches behind the kneecap and press down into your leg and then redirect the pressure a little towards the kneecap. After 30 seconds, slowly slide your foot back and under your chair as far as it will go, release the pressure but hold your foot there for another 30 seconds.
To get it to work properly you must have a good constant pressure on the leg, without that it won't work.
