Is Computer Vision Syndrome permanent?

I'm fairly certain I have computer vision syndrome, I spend long amounts of time on the computer, often uninterrupted (Don't worry, I'm trying to break this habit), and the symptoms I have match up with CVS.

I'm going to get my eyes checked, so please don't lecture me on that.
I just want to know if CVS is permanent, and if not, what is used to treat it? If it is, do you get glasses?

No, CVS is a temporary problem. It's basically just too much time at the computer , causing eyestrain and muscular pain in the neck and back.

If it was possible to stay off the computer for a week or 10 days, all the symptoms would go away.

But, being as we can't usually do that , all that can be done is to manage the problem and lessen the symptoms.

Proper posture, is an important start, then keeping the monitor at least 26- 30 inches away from you, and most importantly, frequent breaks.

Your eye exam may reveal a need for a mild correction , but not necessarily. That isn't normally a treatment for CVS unless glasses are actually required regardless of the computer.

Using the computer wisely with lots of short breaks is the key. Your symptoms will take longer to subside with continual use of the computer, but with the few simple rules mentioned, they will improve with time.
