During a company exam when I was about 25 I was diagnosed with MVP. I didn't know it, didn't feel bad, and I was training for a marathon at the time. Like you, the doctor said it wasn't worth worrying about because it wasn't serious. He prescribed no medicines, and said the only thing I should be careful of was to be sure and tell my dentist. Apparently, dental checkups and surgery could introduce bacteria to the bloodstream which might cause problems, so, for 31 years (I'm 56) I've been taking Clindomycin prior to every dentist visit, and I've never had problems in that area. In fact, I've no problems at all except the the irregular heart beats. My wife will lay her head on my chest sometimes and it scares her when she feels the skips, but it's never been a problem. I still work, play, whatever. Other than getting tired because I'm getting old I've never had a problem. Different foods don't seem to affect it. In fact, sometimes for a few weeks at a time, it seems to disappear. Then the skips will come back. I've lasted this long, so I quit worrying about it. If you're worried, go back to the doctor. I know there are varying degrees of MVP, so you might want to get it checked out.
