Youre too clogged (try blowing first), youre using water that is too warm or cold and its causing swelling (when you put your finger in the water, you should barely feel the water, termperature wise), or you have some structural issue going on (a wild guess, but could be related to the noses natural cleaning process)....and lastly....if it burns, you aren't using the right amount of salt, or you are using iodized table salt (you ARE using salt, aren't you? it should be sea salt without an anti-caking agent - but plain kosher salt will work in a pinch)

start taking cayenne pepper pills and eat peppermint leaves everyday, also get mourines nasal spray squirt 3 squirts until you feel it clear, also avoid cheese milk and all dairy for 3-7 days to eliminate mucous production. it will help your body eliminate watse and unclog your sinuses. horseradish eating a tablespoonful will be very painful yet will clear you completely if you can handle it, it burns but it cleans you completely out!!! good luck
