Is there anything better than 20/20 vision?

(8 posts)
  1. My friend claims that they have 20/20 vision. Is that even possible? They also said that their sister has vision in the negatives. I'm not sure I believe what they said. Is any of this even true?

    20/20 is very possible.

Your friend who has vision in the negatives is talking about their prescription which uses a different standard. A negative number means you are nearsighted and a positive number means you are farsighted. The farther the number is from zero, the more correction you have.

20/20 Vision is normal vision. When we do eye exam, we expect people to see 20/20 with their new glasses or contacts. 20/20 means you can see at 20 feet what you are expected to see at 20 feet. It is not uncommon for people to see 20/15. A few people can see 20/10. Any negative numbers used in visual acuity are nonsense.

  5. 20/20 is the standard set as good, normal vision.

20/15 is even better and is quite common....

20/10 is less common, but not all that rare.

20/8 is the best recorded human vision possible.

A hawk supposedly has 20/2 vision , which is the best in the animal kingdom.

20/10 means you can see at 20 feet what a person with good normal vision can see only when they are 10 feet away.

Vision in the negatives makes no sense, unless they are talking about the power of her glasses.

So nice of Eric d to have copied and pasted an answer I gave to this same question a few weeks back.

Eric...if you don't know the answer on your own...don't steal other peoples answers.
