You don't get bronchitis from smoking. Bronchitis is a bacterial orr viral respiratory infection, and smoking doesn't cause that. Sometimes people call it chronic bronchitis, but in fact it's chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. If a doctor told you that it`s bronchitis, they are just being lazy (they say "bronchitis" all the time for random lung issues in younger people), and kind of lying, too, if maybe he thought it would stop you from smoking. IF you have breathing probs and/or coughing probs from smoking, then you probably have emphysema or something. And if you do, that can be very bad, and can even kill you if it gets serious (and it can progress), so good thing you quit.

YOU will die from Emphysema or Cancer! ☺

First off you will shorten your expected lifespan by about 13~15 yrs, cigarette smoke has many carcinogens, both radioactive and chemical, which means you are 50 times more likely to contract lung cancer, 20 times more likely to die from laryngeal cancer, 1.74 times more likely to contract pancreatic cancer, if you also drink alcohol heavily the chance of contracting esophageal cancer skyrockets and you are also more likely to contract bladder cancer and stomach cancer. Smoking is the main cause of bladder cancer and around 50% of all males with bladder cancer are smokers, and a similarly sizable portion from the female demographic. You will probably contract Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), (you already have one of the two forms of this disease already) which will cause shortness of breath, wheezing, persistent coughing and coughing up of sputum(a mixture of saliva mucus and pus), and around 80~90% of people with COPD are smokers. You are also more likely to contract (about 60% of smoker compared to 40.1% of nonsmoker) influenza and it is more likely to be worse than for non-smokers. You are also more likely to have a heart attack or stroke and have other cardiovascular problems, It also increases the chance of you getting Alzheimer's disease (if you live to such an old age) and decreases cognitive function (especially in adolescence). If you are male you are more likely to impotent... and if you are female you increase your chance for breast cancer and make you more likely to miscarry if you become pregnant. Also smokers are shown to be 53% more likely to file for a divorce.
Those who spend their time around you and are exposed to your second hand smoke are more likely to get lung cancer, and there is a strong correlation between second hand smoke and . For any adolescence exposed, they are more likely to get: brain cancer, childhood asthma (although adults may also get this from second hand smoke children are more likely), Sudden Infant Death Syndrome(SIDS), Bronchiolitis, Crohn's syndrome, learning disabilities, ear infections and tooth decay. For anyone over 50 you expose, they are more likely to get dementia. Any Pregnant women you expose are more likely to have their child born prematurely and have a low birth rate.
