You can have oral herpes on your mouth (it's what causes cold sores) or have some one transfer cold sores to your genitals through having oral sex with some one that gets cold sores. Which is most likely what happened. You don't have to be nasty to get this type of herpes, you can contract it during child hood by being innocently kissed by some one that has cold sores. You can get cold sores with out ever having sex.
Genital HSV1 can be less sever then HSV2 on the genitals but every one is different when it comes to herpes. For me it's more sever on the mouth, I hardly every have out breaks of it down stairs. It is still contagious though like HSV2. But slightly less contagious when you don't have any signs of an out break.
That is true, but it's still possible to spread it through intercourse. It doesn't like being on the genitals but it can still be passed to your partner during oral sex or regular intercourse while there are any signs of an out break.
You can have herpes in only one location. Just because you happen to have it genitally that doesn't mean you have it orally too.
Herpes is different for every on that has it, you may get out breaks or you could have one then never have another. It's hard to predict what herpes has in store in the future for you. But since you have it genitally then you would have out breaks on your genitals
Luck you. If your male then you may not get very many out breaks or symptoms simply because your immune system is stronger then a woman's. The first is usually the worst but like I said before it's hard to predict how out breaks for other people.
