Misleading blood test?

I'll admit that I'm probably diabetes due to my lifestyle but I gotta ask still. I wasn't aware I was to take a blood test, so around 2-3am, I ate some food, drink 2 soda and than went and took the test at 10:20am. Around 8-9 hours differences. Would the result be altered somewhat since I didn't fast as I should? Plus, glucose number are high, so chances are I'm probably diabetes even still.

If the norm is 4-5 and you turn out into the tens or twenties you have diabetes II. Mine was all prim and proper and turned out a 9.5. No problem in diagnoses. You can have these test done at the local chemist for a few cents. All, as per schedule.
    Peace.

Due to the fact that you did not fast for the test. Your glucose levels would reflect that of a diabetic. I would call and inform your doctor, and then schedule another test. Do not eat. You can only drink water.

Yes, a fasting functional test of the pancreas/insulin and according reaction would be altered by *not* fasting. You are right in your assumption that due to a great deal of time passing the alteration from a 'true' fast isn't likely much,.. and as such you are likely to still have Type 2 (which you can still take care of in the long run.. ).

Though for proper results and diagnosis.. you do need to insist a second 'fasting' test be done at a later date. Then, of course, fast this time. :)

Nonetheless,.. if you are genetically predisposed and/or overweight etc -- you need to combat this with vigorous exercise, excellent dietary choices,..and so forth. Diabetes leads to all sorts of secondary complications that , imo, become much worse than the diabetes itself. In the case where you are initially subclinically diagnosed as Type 2 -- you have the opportunity to change this. To potentially remove diabetes from your life due to lifestyle.

The secondary effects are common, unfortunately,.. and range from Kidney failure to Blindness. The potential of these co-morbid conditions being a part of your young to middle adult life (and beyond) should be more than enough motivation to change -- Further the excitement that you actually have a chance to effectively 'cure' yourself in not that long of time. (Maybe 6-12months).... this excitement should be additional motivation.

At any rate,.. Get the second test done (it isn't incredibly expensive) -- and will confirm or deny your condition.
