my 3 year old has two quarter sized red spots on her little perfect leg...
one is perfectly round and has a hard, flat, slightly raised lump in the middle. When I press on it, it goes white right away, but immediately turns bright red again.
The other has a smaller raised area, but it almost looks like a lumpy pimple.
They never itched her, but they hurt her a lot. When I took her out of the shopping carriage at the market today she was so worried that the carriage would rub up against the bites.
I palpitated around the area (non red) and it doesn't hurt or feel hard. Also, the bite itself doesn't feel hot. It only hurts when something rubs/bumps/touches it.
Could it be chiggers? I would think it wasn't mosquito because it never itched..
Should I be worried? We put a little ice on them tonight, and it seemed to help, but she started crying from the touch of it.
It's been about 3 days now..not too long, but it doesn't seem any better. I just don't want her to develop an infection because we're going on vacation in 2 days...
Thanks!
It's ironic you mention getting sick, because she had a low fever today, yesterday and today she was overly tired...had to take naps, and she doesn't usually. I thought she was just getting a cold...maybe it's something else...

to be honest, I'm not sure, but since it's not itching I doubt it is either mosquitoes or chiggers...
but then again, it sounds like the looks of the mosquito bites I got as a kid. I was very allergic. I didn't get sick from the bites, but they turned into very hard red lumps, sometimes very large. Once I had a bite right below my knee and it looked like I had 2 knees it was so swollen!Posted 1 year ago # -
She may have stings from a bee. Bee stings can do this. If she is getting tired and has a fever I would suggest having her checked out, she could have a toxin going through her system.
