If someone in the family has bad acne, there is a really strong chance you could get it too. (sorry sweetie)
Not to worry, a lot of people go through this. You're still young so it is only natural that you're beginning to break out now at this age. But yes, there are a lot of things you can do to prevent this.
*************************
TO PREVENT ACNE
************************** Showering daily helps rid yourself of all the bacteria, dirt, oils and sweat that are creating the acne in the first place.
* Perfumed/scented soap or detergents can be irritable to the skin so I suggest you stay away from that. Use an oil-free body cleanser or oatmeal soap if you are able.
* Make sure that your bedsheets and clothes are clean.
* Avoid wearing the same clothes more than one day - you will be surprised how much sweat, dirt, and oil a single shirt absorbs from your body, even though it still LOOKS clean.
* A healthy diet will also stop the acne from accumulating. Fresh fruits and vegetables are always good for you.
* Drink a LOT of water (drink a full glass of water every hour or two) to flush out the toxins in your body.
* Stay away from fatty, oily foods as these types can trigger some people. Snack foods especially (sorry!).
* However, fish oil (found in tuna, mackerel, sardines, etc.) is actually GOOD for you and acne problems.
*************************
TO CURE ACNE ON YOUR FACE
************************** Wash your face for 3-5 minutes with lukewarm water.
* Use a little bit of soap, but not too bubbly.
* Pat your face but leave it a little wet. Do NOT rub!
* Put alcohol or vinegar onto a cotton ball and dab it onto your face. If it stings, don't worry - it only means it's killing off the bacteria/germs in the acne.
* Do not dab for more than 5 minutes or your skin will dry up.
* Then moisturize your face with a lotion.

HELPFUL TIPS
*************************It's a good idea if you do this at least 3 times a day. Make it a habit. Once when you wake up, another sometime in the afternoon, and the last one an hour before you sleep (this is so because if you wash your face just before you sleep, you might not feel sleepy anymore!). I also would like to suggest that you use Vaseline Petroleum Jelly if have any, in the night. Just a light application will do, as your skin needs to breathe while you sleep (yes, skin breathes), so when you wake up your skin will feel all nice and smooth. You can do this as many times as you want during the day, but you must remember to give the moisturizer some time to work on your skin before you wash it off.
If you don't like the smell of vinegar when applying it onto your face, use one part vinegar, one part water. It's still as effective as vinegar itself but it's a lot less smellier.
Curing acne takes time. The shortest time to be able to cure acne -completely- is 3 days, but there are some who's cases takes longer.
Also, I would like to recommend that you stay away from products that might claim to be an instant-cure to acne, such as Accutane (sometimes known as Isotretinoin). While they may cure acne, they can also cause other harmful side-effects which you're better off not knowing. This is just to let you know you can cure acne right in your very own home with ordinary products (and of course with the help of your Mom and Dad, and perhaps your older brother) without the use of any expensive, fancy products,
I hope these tips help. If it works, be sure to let your brother know too! Good luck with your acne, sweetie!
