There are several different types of cardiomyopathies
You need to speak to your doctorPosted 1 year ago # -
There are three types of cardiomyopathies. Dilated cardiomyopathy, Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and Restrictive cardiomyopathy.
The outlook depends on many different things, including:
* Severity of the heart problem
* Type of cardiomyopathy
* Cause of the cardiomyopathy
* How well you respond to treatment
The disorder is long-term (chronic) and the condition may get worse very quickly.Posted 1 year ago # -
Cardiomyopathy means heart muscle disease and is characterized by the deterioration of the function of the myocardium (that is the actual heart muscle). The risk when you have this is sudden heart attack or arrhythmia (irregular electrical functions). All this is really a weakness of the heart muscle where coronary artery disease is the cause and the lack of oxygen to the heart muscle is the result.
It's important for your father to focus on his overall health, not just his heart. A weak heart function can trigger the kidneys to believe the body is dehydrated when it is not and the kidneys reduce their function to preserve water and that is when fluid builds up in the body and you get congestive heart failure.
I strongly suggest you convince your father to see a certified nutritional therapist that can help him with his nutrition and build real health. The nutritionist can work with his doctor and the combination of the two and really make a difference in your father's chances of survival.
Good luck to you

You need to know the type of cardiomyopathy. At this point all you have said is that the heart has a structural muscle problem of some sort. It could be dilated where the tissue stretches causing a larger heart, Hypertrophic where the tissue itself expands enlarging and filling the interior cavities, or one of a dozen different forms. Diet and lifestyle can effect how bad the condition gets, but typically the condition is from genetics or severe infection. A person with this condition is usually not to blame.
Each version has its own specialized problems and treatment. I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which has exactly 4 possible treatments. Hint: Nutritional treatments don't exist.
Any of these can cause sudden death of some sort. Or they may not cause any problems at all. Many people who are diagnosed when they are older have had the problem since they were teenagers.
Realistically you and any siblings you have should be checked at well if you are an older teenager or older. Since you are related you are at higher risk than other people for this problem. Please don't say that you can't have it because you feel fine. Two versions of cariomyopathy are athlete killers. Young students have died in sports such as basketball games and track& field.
