I'm getting so tired of it. He constantly drink dr. pepper, he refuses to drink water. He skips meals and when he does eat, he will only eat a double cheese burger from McDonalds. For snacks, he ONLY eats junk food. My dad has diabetes and he started to have kidney failure. I'm scared that in the future my fiancee will get really sick from not taking care of himself. I've already talked to him many many many times about changing his ways but its no use. My parents tried talking to him about the importance of taking care of himself but he still doesn't listen. What should I do to get him to understand that he needs to take care of himself? He acts like I'm a total b*tch for talking to him about this. He doesn't understand that I care about him and I don't want anything bad to happen to him. I can't tell if he's lying to me about it or not. Sometimes I think that he is. What should I do?

He will die. If he doesn't start watching what he eats and taking insulin he WILL fall into a coma and either die or be a vegetable. Tell him that.

im sorry to say but he is being selfish. i have many people around me with this disease including my dad and sister amongst others. some people i know take care of it others dont. the ones that dont are slowly but surely withering away before their time. i knw a man who is 50 and his wife is ready to leave him because she cannot take care of him anymore. the diabetes has affected his mind , heart and the rest of him because he refused to take care of himself. its like as if he is 90! he is litterally going crazy. as is my dad in the same situation. if he is having a hard time accepting this disease then he needs professional intervention. as the years go by it gets worse.
