Usually I wouldn't think about seeing a doctor for a 'cold'. But this cold is different than my other ones.

I had a sore throat for 4 days leading up to my cold (which I've now had for 6 days). But my sore throat didn't go away when my cold started. I still have it now, it hurts to swallow in my throat and in my inner ears. I take 2 advil cold and sinus caplets 3 times a day, and it helps a lot. I stop noticing my sore throat sometimes during the day thanks to advil. Along with the sore throat I am coughing a lot, and have been ever since the start of my cold.

Should I see a doctor? Should I go to work? I am a full time student working part time.

I feel silly about missing work for this, but honestly its rather tireing, so i sleep more, and its harder to focus on studies.

But a 6 day cold that is really nasty? What's different about this cold is usually my sore throat will disappear when the cold actually starts, and usually, I will only get a cough at the end of my cold. Also, usually by day 6 it is pretty much nothing. But not this time. I have to admit that my congestion is bearable, but it is the coughing that is especially annoying.

Personally, I feel that if a supposedly "regular" cold is longer than to (2) weeks, then you ought to go get checked up. The first week is hell and the second is supposed to be recovery for most healthy people with good immune systems. But if you still haven't bounced back, then you are taking good care of your self like you should or it's out of your hands and ought to visit a clinic to be safe... Good Luck honey and feel better...!

I would definitely see a doctor, and if the doctor thinks you have something serious, you stay home. Wait, you're not going to School and Work with this are you? You could infect the whole school and workplace in a matter of hours. Germs spread like rabbits. Call in sick, see a doctor, and find chicken soup somewhere. Cup Noodles does not count as chicken soup. You need real chicken soup with chicken and veggies, and a little salt and ginger. If you're vegetarian, skip the chicken part. Broth is great. It replaces lost liquids and salt, and ginger helps sooth coughs and such. If you need a recipe, go online and find one you like but I think the basic ingredients are chicken, carrot root, parsley root, parsley leaves, a little fresh ginger, and assorted vegetables. But I'm not sure, check online.
